Since 1929 The history of manufacturing Sauso gloves is strongly linked to the history of the Sauso family. Svante Sauso, the great grandfather of Sakari Sauso, got his glove manufacturing skills from the greatest German glove manufacturers and established factory to Järvenpää, Finland in 1929. After Svante his son Arno took over the management of the company and from him the company was passed on to the third generation of Sauso that is represented by Sakari Sauso.

These gloves are made from full-grain nappa leather from Ethiopian hair sheep, making them incredibly beautiful, shiny and soft. The thin and supple hair sheep nappa moulds perfectly to the shape of the wearer’s hands during use. This leather type is the thinnest and finest out of all of the leathers we use.

The model is short and unlined, making it suitable for warm weather as well as to use as a driving glove. The inner side of the wrist is fitted with an elastic band, which makes the gloves easier to put on, and improves overall fit. The sleek and delicate design looks flattering on any hands. The gloves are supposed to have a snug fit at first, after which it’ll mould to the shape of your hands.

The gloves are adorned with attractive teardrop-shaped perforations and a part of the back of the hand is sewn into a curved shape. Sauso’s logo is also printed on the palm side. The embellishments create a beautiful and sophisticated look, without being too flashy.

The gloves have been made using the traditional table cutting method. This guarantees that the gloves will fit perfectly, as excess flexibility is stretched out of the leather by hand, leaving an optimal amount of elasticity, so that the gloves can mould to the shape of your hands over time.

FIND YOUR SIZE

To find the perfect fit measure your larger hand (which is usually the one you write with) at its widest point without the thumb.

When you have the measurements see the correct size from the table below. If the measurement is between sizes we recommend to round up to the nearest half or full size. The glove should fit firmly at the beginning as the leather stretches a bit during use and shapes to your hand over time.

When you wear the gloves for the first time fold your fingers back slightly. If a small groove forms at the knuckles then you know the gloves are the correct size.

To make your gorgeous handmade gloves last as long as possible you should treat them with care.

General Instructions

Gloves should be stretched slightly in the longitudinal direction after every time you wear them. This way their original shape and the length of fingers is restored. It is advisable to keep the gloves either flat or folded twice as they should not be wrinkled.

Avoid getting the gloves wet! Bright and intense colors may dye when they get in touch with liquids. If gloves get wet allow them to dry at room temperature preferably on a towel.

Small imperfections caused by getting wet can be faded by stretching the leather a bit around the area with flaws.

The shine of the nappa leather can be increased by rubbing the gloves with a soft cloth and by using some talcum powder.

The surface of suede leather can be improved with a soft brush or a piece of foam. Some dust particles may come off from suede leather when the gloves have not yet been used. This can be removed by brushing lightly.

How to Wash Leather Gloves

Although usually the gloves should not be exposed to water it is still possible to wash them by hand. Do not machine wash leather gloves.

You'll need:

Our Leather Soap or Marseille soap. It is important to use a gentle soap with moisturizing ingredients.
Two pieces of sponge
Famaco Delicate Gel. (Gloves made from the finest leathers should not be exposed to spray or cream containing silicone.)
A dish for water
Leather Brush

Wear the glove in your hand. Do not immerse gloves in water as lining materials with natural fiber may shrink if the water temperature is too high. Please also note that gloves with fur lining or otherwise containing fur should not be washed with water.
Brush all excess dirt and dust off the leather.
Wet the sponge and squeeze excess water.
Use a sponge to foam the soap and gently rub the leather in circular motion. Work in sections. When you have cleansed a section use a clean side of the sponge to clean the leather of excess soap.
Let the glove dry on a towel in room temperature for 15-30 minutes. While the gloves are still slightly damp gently put them on to restore their original shape.
Repeat the process on the other glove.
Now is time to apply the gel. Wear the glove in your hand. Use a clean sponge. Work in sections with gentle circular motions. A little goes a long way!
Let the gloves dry for 15-30 minutes.
Use a leather brush to make the leather shine and to remove excess product.

How do I choose the right size gloves?

To find the right size, measure your larger hand (usually your writing hand) at its widest point without a thumb. The circumference of the hand is measured very firmly around the hand. Tip: If you do not have a tape measure, you can use a string. Measure the circumference of the hand with the string and then measure the length of the string with a ruler. This measurement result allows you to select the correct size from the selected size chart. (The size chart can be found on each product page.) If the measurement is between two sizes, we recommend rounding to the nearest half or full size. When rounding to the nearest size, consider the length of your fingers. If you have long fingers or keep your nails long, choose a larger size. If the model of your hand is more wide than the long model, choose a smaller size - this way the fingers are not too long. The glove should sit firmly at the beginning, as the leather stretches slightly in use and shapes in your hand over time.
