Since 1929 The history of manufacturing Sauso gloves is strongly linked to the history of the Sauso family. Svante Sauso, the great grandfather of Sakari Sauso, got his glove manufacturing skills from the greatest German glove manufacturers and established factory to Järvenpää, Finland in 1929. After Svante his son Arno took over the management of the company and from him the company was passed on to the third generation of Sauso that is represented by Sakari Sauso.

Our goal was to create a leather glove that would fit the particular needs of today, while being reasonably priced. That’s how our washable leather gloves were born: the Emil for men and Crista for women.

Handmade from leather from Ethiopian hair sheep, these gloves are soft and breathable – like another skin. The leather can tolerate repeated, even daily, washing and is thus a hygienic alternative for regular gloves.

The length of the cuff (measured from the base of the thumb seam) is approximately 1.1” (3 cm). As the glove covers the wrist while being light, it’s ideal for days in the city, from autumn to spring.

The wrist side of the cuff is fitted with an elastic band for added flexibility. This design comes without a lining. As a natural material, there may be natural colour variations and imperfections in the leather.

Washing instructions: wear the gloves. Wash the gloves as you would wash your hands. Wet your hands slightly, rub with soap thoroughly, and rinse. Lightly pat most water with a towel. Finally, take off the gloves and allow them to dry on a towel at room temperature. Shape the gloves into the shape of your hand while the leather is still slightly damp.

Top Tip! The skin can be treated from time to time by rubbing it lightly with a soft cloth, such as a cotton swab or wool sock. Rubbing the leather causes friction and lifts natural oils to the surface of the leather, giving it shine.

Choose the right size: this thin leather glove moulds to the hand of the wearer during use, so we recommend choosing a snug fit. Check your size by using a measuring tape and our size guide. Measure the circumference of your hand tightly and without your thumb. Unless you have especially long fingers, choose the smallest possible size for your measurement.

How do I choose the right size gloves?

To find the right size, measure your larger hand (usually your writing hand) at its widest point without a thumb. The circumference of the hand is measured very firmly around the hand. Tip: If you do not have a tape measure, you can use a string. Measure the circumference of the hand with the string and then measure the length of the string with a ruler. This measurement result allows you to select the correct size from the selected size chart. (The size chart can be found on each product page.) If the measurement is between two sizes, we recommend rounding to the nearest half or full size. When rounding to the nearest size, consider the length of your fingers. If you have long fingers or keep your nails long, choose a larger size. If the model of your hand is more wide than the long model, choose a smaller size - this way the fingers are not too long. The glove should sit firmly at the beginning, as the leather stretches slightly in use and shapes in your hand over time.
