Since 1929 The history of manufacturing Sauso gloves is strongly linked to the history of the Sauso family. Svante Sauso, the great grandfather of Sakari Sauso, got his glove manufacturing skills from the greatest German glove manufacturers and established factory to Järvenpää, Finland in 1929. After Svante his son Arno took over the management of the company and from him the company was passed on to the third generation of Sauso that is represented by Sakari Sauso.

Charming and warm gloves made from Finnish reindeer suede.

As a material, reindeer suede is both stylish and comfortable. The soft, fine and durable reindeer leather is practically made for gloves. The luxurious leather feels almost like an extension of your own skin. As the leather is naturally dirt and water repellent, it’s very durable in the face of various weather conditions. Reindeer leather is an exotic product around the world, but a local product for us. This ethical and ecological leather is one of the most highly regarded types of leather used for gloves. Caring for the free-range reindeer is essential to the vitality of northern villages. As a material, reindeer suede is warmer than e.g. lamb napa leather.

The lining, made from 100% cashmere, makes the gloves a must for cold winters. The luxurious knitted lining is warm, very soft and made from high-quality cashmere. The breathable, natural material feels pleasant on the skin due to its softness. As cashmere is naturally thermally insulating, these gloves bring much-needed warmth to cold winters.

The gloves are designed in a simple, timeless style, with sophisticated decorative stitches on the back of the hand. The gloves are made using a step seam, which makes them sleek and delicate to wear. The cuff length is around 2” (approx. 5 cm), so the gloves cover the wrist and protect your hands from the wind.

Being hand-made from scratch, the gloves have undergone around 100 careful crafting steps. One of the most important steps in the process is cutting the leather with the traditional table cutting method, and stretching it out to control the amount of flexibility in the leather. This ensures that the final gloves will fit perfectly and that it will mould to the hands of the wearer over time. All hides are cut carefully to minimise waste material.

The gloves are easy to care for. As the leather is naturally oily, it doesn’t need to be treated with leather care products. Avoid getting the leather wet. Always stretch the gloves lengthwise after each use. Do not store the gloves in an airtight place to allow any moisture accumulated during use to evaporate. Suede can be treated by brushing it with a soft fabric brush.

How do I choose the right size gloves?

To find the right size, measure your larger hand (usually your writing hand) at its widest point without a thumb. The circumference of the hand is measured very firmly around the hand. Tip: If you do not have a tape measure, you can use a string. Measure the circumference of the hand with the string and then measure the length of the string with a ruler. This measurement result allows you to select the correct size from the selected size chart. (The size chart can be found on each product page.) If the measurement is between two sizes, we recommend rounding to the nearest half or full size. When rounding to the nearest size, consider the length of your fingers. If you have long fingers or keep your nails long, choose a larger size. If the model of your hand is more wide than the long model, choose a smaller size - this way the fingers are not too long. The glove should sit firmly at the beginning, as the leather stretches slightly in use and shapes in your hand over time.
