A tube scarf earns its place the first time you pull one on over a coat collar: no knot to retie, no tail working loose, no bulk under a zip. Every tube scarf, snood and neck warmer here is knitted from the same possum merino blend — 53% merino wool, 40% possum fibre and 7% silk — knitted in New Zealand and cut in one unisex size.
There are four styles, each solving a slightly different problem. VIIMA is the compact plain-knit tube: roughly 52 cm around and 42 cm high, enough to close the gap between jaw and jacket without bunching. SISU is the tube scarf we carry deepest, in eight colours — Black, Charcoal Grey, navy Maritime, Petrol, Port, heathered Twilight, green Avoka and Oyster Beige. SALLA is the one to reach for when a scarf alone leaves your collarbones cold: a high ribbed turtleneck attached to a short knitted panel over the shoulders, standing in for both a scarf and a sweater layer, in nine colours including Coffee, Bahama and Neptune. VEGA is the long one, a 35 x 190 cm flat scarf in solids and in two-tone pairings such as Black/Oyster and Black/Shale Grey.
Why possum merino behaves differently
Possum fibre is hollow, which makes the knit up to 30% warmer than a comparable wool knit while staying noticeably lighter. Merino carries the breathability and moisture transport, and the silk adds smoothness and strength. The fibres are resilient enough that they rarely break, so the knit barely pills even after years of wear — and it sits comfortably against sensitive skin. The merino is mulesing-free, and the possum fibre is a by-product of pest control: New Zealand's roughly 60 million possums have no natural predators and damage native habitat.
