Mittens are warmer than gloves, and the reason is simple: the fingers stay together and share their heat. This collection is that principle in real materials — leather and fur mittens made by hand, the way Sauso has made handwear since 1929 — the adult models cut and sewn in Europe. The outer leathers range from peccary and deerskin to soft hairsheep and lamb nappa; the linings are lamb fur, rabbit fur, 100% cashmere knit from Italy, or organic cotton fleece.
ALEX is the traditional roomy model, sheepskin-lined in XS–XL, with a side gusset that leaves extra space around the fingers and room to wear thin gloves inside on the coldest days. RONJA Kashmir and BRITA sit closer to the hand, with soft nappa palms and a warm cashmere knit lining. STINA is the collection's classic: peccary leather with lamb fur inside, three decorative stitches on the back of the hand, sizes XS–XXL, and more than a hundred handwork steps behind every pair. POUTA solves a specific problem — fold-back flaps on the palm and thumb free your fingers for a phone or a camera without taking the mitten off.
Fit is decided at the cutting table. Sauso uses the traditional table-cut method, in which the excess stretch is pulled out of the leather before cutting, so a mitten shapes to your hand in use but does not go baggy. Mitten sizing is also more forgiving than glove sizing: most people fit two or three sizes and can choose a snug or a loose feel. Check the size chart before ordering.
- Outer leathers: peccary, deerskin, hairsheep nappa and lamb nappa
- Linings: lamb fur, rabbit fur, 100% cashmere knit made in Italy, or double organic cotton fleece
- Adult sizes XS–XXL, children's 2–5, plus baby and toddler sizes
