Size chart
| Size | Hand circumference | Inches |
|---|
The same chart applies to women's and men's leather gloves. Measure the hand you write with, it is usually the larger one.
Between two sizes?
Choose the smaller one. A new Sauso glove should feel snug. The leather is crafted to shape itself to your hand during the first hours and days of wear.
How should the right size feel?
- Palm: no extra leather is left around the hand, and the leather sits snugly around it at first.
- Fingers: when new, the fingers of the glove are two or three millimetres longer than your fingers. Creases form with wear, and the fingers shorten slightly as the leather shapes itself in width.
- Leather gives in width, not in length. The palm and fingers ease a little with wear, but the fingers do not get longer.
Long or short fingers?
Choose the same size in a long-finger or short-finger model. Long-finger models have fingers about 5 mm longer and short-finger models about 5 mm shorter than our regular models.
No measuring tape?
- Wrap a string, ribbon, shoelace or strip of paper around your palm across the knuckles, with the thumb outside. Mark where it meets its starting end, lay it straight next to a ruler and read the length.
- A paper glove measure comes with every online order, and you can pick one up free of charge at our store on Mikonkatu.
When your gloves arrive
- Bend your fingers slightly backwards. If a small groove forms over the knuckles, the size is right.
- Try them on at home in peace. Size exchanges are free of charge when the gloves are returned in as-new condition. Return postage depends on the country of delivery.
- Every pair is made by hand, one pair at a time, and the artisan stamps their own mark inside the pair.
- Our leathers are natural: they are not coated or sprayed. Every hide is unique, so pairs of the same model can differ slightly in feel and surface.
Want to be sure?
If you have not worn Sauso gloves before, we recommend having your hand measured at our store, Mikonkatu 7, Helsinki. You can also ask us: info@sauso.com.
Sizes for mittens and knitted gloves
A mitten does not need to fit as snugly as a leather glove: it keeps you warmer with a little air inside. The sizes are unisex. Choose by your leather glove size.
| Size | Women's glove size | Men's glove size |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 6 | 7 |
| S | 6.5 | 7.5 |
| M | 7 | 8 |
| L | 7.5 | 8.5 |
| XL | 8 | 9 |
| XXL | 8.5 | 9.5 |
For the city and public transport you can choose a snugger size. For wind and frost, choose a roomier one.

Chestnut brown, elegant gloves with a 100% merino wool lining, a step seam and a small slit at the mouth for easy donning.
-
- Hairsheep nappa leather
- 100% merino wool lining
- Cuff lenght 2'' (approx 5 cm)
- Step seam
- Short slit on side
- Handmade
- Made using the table cutting method
- European craftmanship
- The leather is obtained as a by-product of the food industry
A classic glove, handcrafted from soft sheepskin leather. This leather is thin and flexible, which makes it feel light and forms comfortably in the hand.
The glove has a warm, durable and soft 100% merino wool lining. Leather often lasts longer than knitted linings, which is why the linings can be replaced if necessary.
The gloves cuff covers the wrist well.
The glove has a step seam, which makes the glove look beautiful and graceful in the hand. The gloves are made using the traditional table-cut method. This ensures a good fit, as the excess stretch has been manually stretched out of the leather, but there is still room for it to shape to the user's hand.

The same size in every model and liningOur artisans take the thickness of the lining into account when making each glove. If your size is 7.5, choose 7.5 whether the lining is silk, cashmere or fur. A fur lining feels a little firmer and a counter seam a little roomier, but the size is the same. How should the right size feel?

To make your gorgeous handmade gloves last as long as possible you should treat them with care.
General Instructions
Gloves should be stretched slightly in the longitudinal direction after every time you wear them. This way their original shape and the length of fingers is restored. It is advisable to keep the gloves either flat or folded twice as they should not be wrinkled.
Avoid getting the gloves wet! Bright and intense colors may dye when they get in touch with liquids. If gloves get wet allow them to dry at room temperature preferably on a towel.
Small imperfections caused by getting wet can be faded by stretching the leather a bit around the area with flaws.
The shine of the nappa leather can be increased by rubbing the gloves with a soft cloth and by using some talcum powder.
The surface of suede leather can be improved with a soft brush or a piece of foam. Some dust particles may come off from suede leather when the gloves have not yet been used. This can be removed by brushing lightly.
How to Wash Leather Gloves
Although usually the gloves should not be exposed to water it is still possible to wash them by hand. Do not machine wash leather gloves. We do not recommend washing hairsheep leather gloves except washable hairsheep leather.
You'll need:
- Our Leather Soap or Marseille soap. It is important to use a gentle soap with moisturizing ingredients.
- Two pieces of sponge
- Famaco Delicate Gel (Gloves made from the finest leathers should not be exposed to spray or cream containing silicone.)
- A dish for water
- Leather Brush
- Wear the glove in your hand. Do not immerse gloves in water as lining materials with natural fiber may shrink if the water temperature is too high. Please also note that gloves with fur lining or otherwise containing fur should not be washed with water.
- Brush all excess dirt and dust off the leather.
- Wet the sponge and squeeze excess water.
- Use a sponge to foam the soap and gently rub the leather in circular motion. Work in sections. When you have cleansed a section use a clean side of the sponge to clean the leather of excess soap.
- Let the glove dry on a towel in room temperature for 15-30 minutes. While the gloves are still slightly damp gently put them on to restore their original shape.
- Repeat the process on the other glove.
- Now is time to apply the gel. Wear the glove in your hand. Use a clean sponge. Work in sections with gentle circular motions. A little goes a long way!
- Let the gloves dry for 15-30 minutes.
- Use a leather brush to make the leather shine and to remove excess product.

European Craftsmanship and Ethical Sourcing
Our Commitment to Quality and Heritage
Our gloves are handmade in the beautiful city of Pécs, Hungary, a historic center of expertise for world-class glove manufacturing. In this region, glove making is a highly respected craft. We take pride in ensuring that our artisans work in excellent conditions that are fully compliant with EU labor laws, preserving a tradition of quality and fair practice.
We are equally committed to ethical material sourcing. We exclusively use leather obtained as a by-product of the food industry, such as lamb, or from essential population management, such as moose and elk. We strictly do not use fur from farmed animals. By working only with reliable partners, we maintain full transparency throughout our production chain.
While our current priority is crafting durable, high-quality leather accessories, we are always looking forward. We closely monitor innovations in vegan materials and remain open to incorporating sustainable, vegan alternatives in the future. For us, the goal is always the same: creating beautiful products that reflect our values.
A Lifecycle of Quality and Care
Designed to Last, Built to Be Restored
Gloves made from durable materials and careful craftsmanship are inherently designed to last. We encourage the longest possible use of our products by providing expert guidance on maintenance and repair. By caring for the leather properly, you ensure that your gloves remain a staple of your wardrobe for decades.
To further extend their lifespan, we offer a specialized repair service through our store, including the replacement of natural fiber linings. This ensures that even as the interior wears down from daily use, the exterior craftsmanship continues to serve you. This circular approach to fashion allows a single pair of gloves to be refreshed and worn for a lifetime.
Furthermore, we believe true sustainability is found in the durability of style. As a classic accessory, our gloves are not tied to fleeting seasonal trends. Instead, they represent a timeless design that serves the wearer's wardrobe throughout their entire life cycle, proving that excellence never goes out of fashion.
