A scarf is judged on a cold morning, not on a hanger. This collection is built around that test: merino possum knits from New Zealand for real winter, and woven wool-silk, cotton-silk and pure cotton scarves from Italy for the months either side of it. Almost all pieces are unisex and one size: the choice is weight, format and colour, not fit.
The warmest pieces are knitted from our merino possum blend: 53% merino wool, 40% brushtail possum fibre and 7% silk, knitted in New Zealand from mulesing-free merino. Possum fibre is hollow at its core, which is why the knit runs up to 20% lighter and up to 30% warmer than a comparable wool knit — and why it barely pills, even after years of wear. The fibre is a by-product of invasive-species control in New Zealand, where possums have no natural predators, so it meets our requirement for ethically sourced material. Choose the VEGA flat-knit merino possum scarf at 35 × 190 cm, the SISU knitted tube scarf that pulls straight on, or the shorter VIIMA collar, roughly 52 cm around and 42 cm high. Colours run from black and charcoal through shale grey, oyster beige, petrol, port and maritime.
The woven side is Italian. BELLEZZA is a wool scarf in 94% wool and 6% silk, made in Italy and Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, with a discreet motif drawn from the Sauso S. SANTO is a long 70 × 200 cm wrap in Italian 80% cotton and 20% silk, printed in Italy; SOGNO takes the same fibre idea to shawl scale at 140 × 140 cm; CARA is 100% Italian cotton, 90 × 90 cm.
