General instructions for glove care and use
To enjoy your beautiful, handmade gloves for as long as possible, they should be cared for gently.
The most important advice for using gloves is to stretch the leather. After each use, it is good to stretch the gloves slightly lengthwise, restoring their original finger length and shape. If the gloves are not regularly stretched lengthwise, deep grooves and wrinkles will form in the fingers, and over time the fingers of the gloves may shorten by up to half a centimeter.
For temporary storage during daily outings, gloves should be neatly folded in half in a pocket or bag – they do not like wrinkling.
At home and for longer storage, gloves should be kept smooth and airy.
Please avoid getting the gloves wet! Very bright and strong colors may bleed slightly when wet. If your gloves do get wet, let them dry naturally at room temperature, preferably on a towel. Small marks caused by wetting can be faded by gently stretching the leather around and over the affected areas in different directions.
The shine of nappa leather can be enhanced by rubbing the gloves with a soft cloth and using a little talcum powder.
The nap of suede leather can be refreshed with a soft brush or a piece of foam rubber. New suede gloves may release some so-called suede dust, which can be removed with light brushing.
Care and washing of leather gloves
Although gloves do not like occasional wetting, they can be hand washed if necessary. Gloves only need washing rarely, if ever. Machine washing is far too harsh a process for leather gloves.
How often should gloves be maintained? There is no single answer to this. If you have several pairs of gloves in use, they may need thorough care and washing very rarely. Gloves in very active use may benefit from maintenance, for example, at the end of the season.

You will need the following tools:
- Leather soap. Use a very mild and richly fatty detergent (e.g., our selection's leather soap or Marseille soap). The fat content of the detergent protects the leather's elasticity and softness.
- Two pieces of sponge. One for soap and the other for care gel. A good sponge for soap is, for example, a natural sponge. For care gel, a denser but soft foam piece works best.
- A small container for water.
- Gentle leather care product. We recommend Famaco Leather Care Gel. Gloves made from the finest leathers do not like silicone-containing protective sprays or creams.
- Leather brush.

Leather gloves washing instructions:
- Put the glove to be washed on your hand. Do not immerse the gloves in water, as natural fiber lining materials may shrink if the water temperature is accidentally too high. Also note that gloves with fur lining or other fur trims cannot be washed with water.
- First, wipe off dirt and dust coming off the glove with a leather brush.
- Wet the wash sponge and squeeze out the excess water.
- Lather the soap by rubbing the soap with the wash sponge.
- Gently work through the entire glove with circular motions, one section at a time. Each time you have soaped one part, you can wipe it clean with the clean side of the sponge.
- Let the glove dry at room temperature for 15-30 minutes. Gloves do not like heat, so do not place them on a radiator or near any heat source. When the gloves are still slightly damp, carefully put them on your hand to restore their original shape.
- Repeat the treatment on the other glove.
- Then it's time to apply the care gel. Put the glove to be treated on your hand. Use a clean sponge to apply the product. Surprisingly, only a small amount of care gel is needed. So apply the product sparingly, section by section. If necessary, you can add care gel again to areas that seem to need it.
- Let the glove dry again and absorb the nourishing effects of the care gel. 15-30 minutes.
- Put the glove back on your hand and brush the glove thoroughly with a leather brush. Brushing brings out the shine of the leather and prevents it from becoming sticky.

Käsineiden valmistus käsityönä on luonnostaan hyvin taloudellista ja siten ekologista materiaalien käytön osalta. Leikkausvaiheessa leikkuri optimoi nahan kulutuksen siten, että leikkuujätettä syntyy minimaalisen vähän. Tähän tarkoitukseen käsineet ovat erinomainen tuote, sillä niissä on paljon pieniä osia (sormenvälit, peukalot, ranteen kanttaus), joihin voidaan käyttää hyvinkin pienet nahanpalaset. Hienolaatuisen aniliininahan luonnollinen tuntuma säilyy rumpuvärjäyksen ansiosta, eli nahan päälle ei ruiskuteta halpatuotannolle tyypillisiä kemikaaleja. Materiaalien valmistuksessa käytetyt vedet puhdistetaan jo tehtaalla. Ekologisten seikkojen huomioiminen on meille tärkeää tuotannon ja toiminnan joka vaiheessa. Esimerkiksi tuotelaput valmistetaan FSC-setrifioidusta kartongista käsinetehtaamme naapuritehtaassa, jolloin myös kuljetuksen hiilijalanjälki on minimaalinen.
Käsineemme valmistetaan käsityönä Unkarissa kauniissa Pecs-nimisessä kaupungissa, joka on maailman laatukäsineiden valmistuksen osaamisen keskus. Käsineiden valmistus on erittäin arvostettu käsityöala, ja alansa parhaiden käsinevalmistajien työolot ovat kunnossa ja EU-lakien mukaiset. Käytämme ainoastaan nahkaa, joka saadaan ruokatuotannon sivutuotteena (kuten lammas) ja/tai kannanhallinnan seurauksena (kuten hirvi). Tarhattujen eläinten turkiksia emme käytä. Meille prioriteettina on valmistaa laadukkaita ja pitkäikäisiä asusteita. Seuraamme kuitenkin tarkasti myös vegaanisten materiaalien kenttää, ja tulevaisuudessa saattaakin olla mahdollista valmistaa vegaanisia käsineitä. Materiaalit hankitaan luotettavilta yhteistyökumppaneilta, jolloin tuotantoketjun vaiheet ovat tiedossa.
Kestävistä materiaaleista ja huolellisella käsityöllä valmistetut käsineet kestävät käytössä pitkään. Kannustamme tuotteidemme mahdollisimman pitkäaikaiseen käyttöön, ja opastammekin käsineiden huollossa ja korjauksessa. Esimerkiksi käsineiden luonnonkuituiset vuorit on mahdollista vaihtaa, mikä lisää käsineiden käyttöikää entisestään. Vuorinvaihto- ja käsineiden korjauspalvelu toimivat myymälämme kautta. Kestävyyteen liittyy lisäksi tyylin ja muotoilun kestävyys. Klassisena asusteena käsineet eivät ole kiinni sesongeittain vaihtuvissa trendeissä, vaan käsineet palvelevat käyttäjänsä pukeutumista koko niiden elinkaaren ajan.
