Leather withstands wear better than the lining, so usually the lining is the first part of the gloves to break. Many ask us whether it's worth changing the lining of gloves. If the leather of the gloves is intact and there is a desire to continue using the gloves, lining change gives nicely extended life to gloves that have already molded well to your hands. The gloves are also significantly more comfortable and warmer when fingers don't slip into holes in the broken lining.
Old but intact leather gloves should be maintained and eventually repurposed from neat city use to other uses, such as car maintenance, refueling, snow clearing gloves, or dog walking. The lining change and repair service is only available for Sauso gloves; we do not repair gloves from other manufacturers.
The lining change service can be ordered in our brick-and-mortar store or through the online store and mail. If you bring the gloves to the store, payment can be conveniently made at the same time. Payment is made before the lining change is carried out. Our store is located in the heart of Helsinki, at Mikonkatu 7.
The lining change service operates by mail as follows: (Only in Finland)
1. Order in the online store. Select your desired lining material from the dropdown menu and add the product to the shopping cart. Complete the purchase. You will receive an order number for your purchase.
2. Packaging and delivery of the gloves.
- Pack the gloves in any packaging suitable for shipping that protects the product.
- Include a form in the package showing the following information: Order number, name, contact details (phone number, email, postal address).
- Send the package to us at: Sauso, Mikonkatu 7, 00100 Helsinki sauso.shop@sauso.com
3. Lining change. The gloves are sent from us to the factory, where a glove seamstress removes the old lining and sews a new lining into the gloves.
For ecological reasons, we always collect several gloves in the same shipment, so we do not send individual gloves to the factory. Shipments to the factory leave us regularly. Finished gloves are sent back to us with regular deliveries. This way, we reduce the service's carbon footprint.
4. You will receive a notification when the gloves are ready for pickup at the store or, if you chose delivery, you will receive a tracking number. Shipping usually takes 1-4 business days.
The lining change takes approximately 4-10 weeks in total. The service duration varies slightly depending on the season. The duration is affected by factory workload, transportation, and handling times.
We recommend changing the lining outside the glove usage season or acquiring replacement gloves, so you don't have to wait with cold fingers for the gloves to return from the lining change. It's also wise to get pairs of gloves for the same usage season, as leather benefits from occasional rest days. This way, you'll enjoy your gloves for even longer!
