Since 1929 The history of manufacturing Sauso gloves is strongly linked to the history of the Sauso family. Svante Sauso, the great grandfather of Sakari Sauso, got his glove manufacturing skills from the greatest German glove manufacturers and established factory to Järvenpää, Finland in 1929. After Svante his son Arno took over the management of the company and from him the company was passed on to the third generation of Sauso that is represented by Sakari Sauso.

Our goal was to create a leather glove that would meet the particular needs of today, while still being affordably priced. That's how are washable leather gloves were created; the Emil for men and the Crista for women.

Made from the leather of hair sheep, these gloves are soft and breathable - like a second skin. As the leather used in this design can withstand repeated/daily washing with water and soap, these gloves are a hygienic alternative to standard leather gloves.

The length of the gloves (measured from the bottom of the thumb seam) is about 1.2” (approx. 3 cm), so the gloves cover the wrists, while still being lightweight enough to be suitable for city use from spring to autumn. The inside of the calf is fitted with an elastic band to improve the fit. The design is online. As a natural material, the leather may have natural colour variations and small colour defects.

Washing instructions: Wash the gloves as you would wash your own hands. Wet the gloves gently, lather with soap, and rinse. Dry most of the water gently with a towel. Take the gloves off. Allow the gloves to dry on a towel at room temperature. Stretch the gloves back into the shape of your hands while the leather is still slightly damp. Top tip! The skin can be treated from time to time by rubbing it lightly with a soft cloth, such as a piece of cotton. Rubbing the skin causes friction, which some of the natural oils of the leather to the surface, making the leather shiny again.

Choose the right size: This thin leather glove changes its shape during use, so choose a glove that fits very snugly at first. Check the correct size using a measuring tape and the size chart. Wrap the measuring tape very tightly around your hand (without your thumb). If your measurement is between two sizes, choose the smaller size, unless you need extra room for your fingers.

How do I choose the right size gloves?

To find the right size, measure your larger hand (usually your writing hand) at its widest point without a thumb. The circumference of the hand is measured very firmly around the hand. Tip: If you do not have a tape measure, you can use a string. Measure the circumference of the hand with the string and then measure the length of the string with a ruler. This measurement result allows you to select the correct size from the selected size chart. (The size chart can be found on each product page.) If the measurement is between two sizes, we recommend rounding to the nearest half or full size. When rounding to the nearest size, consider the length of your fingers. If you have long fingers or keep your nails long, choose a larger size. If the model of your hand is more wide than the long model, choose a smaller size - this way the fingers are not too long. The glove should sit firmly at the beginning, as the leather stretches slightly in use and shapes in your hand over time.
