Since 1929 The history of manufacturing Sauso gloves is strongly linked to the history of the Sauso family. Svante Sauso, the great grandfather of Sakari Sauso, got his glove manufacturing skills from the greatest German glove manufacturers and established factory to Järvenpää, Finland in 1929. After Svante his son Arno took over the management of the company and from him the company was passed on to the third generation of Sauso that is represented by Sakari Sauso.

A classic design handmade from wild peccary boar leather is the the Rolls Royce of gloves.

If you're looking for durable, classically beautiful and perfectly fitting lightweight leather gloves that can be worn all year round, then these are just the gloves for you. The velvety soft leather of these hand-sewn unlined gloves feels wonderful on the skin.

Wild peccary boar leather is naturally thick and porous, making it very insulating. Peccary leather is also characterised by its beautiful matte finish. The velvet-soft leather has a beautiful natural pattern with three small adjacent dots, created by the hair follicles in the animal and typical for peccary. As the mittens are made from leather from a wild animal, the leather comes with small traces of life, making each pair unique and one of a kind.

Peccary leather is very durable and develops a beautiful patina over time, making these gloves a joy to wear for years to come. In addition to being the perfect leather for gloves, peccary is valuable because of its limited availability. Peccary is manufactured in Peru, which is the only country al-lowed to sell this valuable leather. Indigenous peoples in the Amazon hunt the peccary boar for its meat. As the species is CITES-protected, its hunting is only allowed for survival. In other words, the peccary boar is not hunted because of its hides; the hides are just a by-product. And as always with leather derived from wild species, each hide is unique, reflecting the life of the individual animal.

The traditional design has three decorative stitches on the back of the hand. The cuff covers the wrist. The sleek cuff fits well inside the sleeves of jackets. An elastic band fitted on on the inner side of the cuff improves the fit around the wrist.

Over 100 careful crafting steps and high-quality materials make these gloves an excellent investment.

Gloves made of peccary wild boar leather must always be hand-sewn, as the leather is relatively thick. Due to this, the gloves are sewn with a counter seam, i.e. the seam is visible on the outer side of the gloves. This means that the gloves are hand-sewn with a needle and thread, which is a very precise and time-consuming process. The average seamstress creates about 2,5 pairs of gloves per day.

The gloves are supposed to fit snugly at first, so that they can mould to fit the individual shape of the wearer’s hands over time. The most important phase determining the fit of the gloves is cutting the leather. The gloves get their perfect fit with the help of the centuries-old table cutting method. Any excess elasticity is stretched out of the leather, leaving only an optimal amount of flexibility. This is to ensure that the gloves retain their fit, and don't stress even after long-term use. Each hide is processed separately. As the wild peccary boar is a relatively small wild animal, it's hides may contain faults, tears, and even holes. Hence, cutting the leather is like a jigsaw puzzle, as the experienced cutting master finds the right pieces from the hides for each part of the gloves. Luckily, the hides are utilised thoroughly, as gloves have many small parts, especially between the fingers.

How do I choose the right size gloves?

To find the right size, measure your larger hand (usually your writing hand) at its widest point without a thumb. The circumference of the hand is measured very firmly around the hand. Tip: If you do not have a tape measure, you can use a string. Measure the circumference of the hand with the string and then measure the length of the string with a ruler. This measurement result allows you to select the correct size from the selected size chart. (The size chart can be found on each product page.) If the measurement is between two sizes, we recommend rounding to the nearest half or full size. When rounding to the nearest size, consider the length of your fingers. If you have long fingers or keep your nails long, choose a larger size. If the model of your hand is more wide than the long model, choose a smaller size - this way the fingers are not too long. The glove should sit firmly at the beginning, as the leather stretches slightly in use and shapes in your hand over time.

Mukavat hanskaat, ei moitittavaa :)

Äitini on ostanut minulle näitä hanskoja lapsuuteni. Nyt sain itsekin ostettua yhdet :)
